

Alvah Claude Moultrie III of LaGrange Georgia passed away peacefully at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice on Friday May 2, 2025. Al was born January 13, 1958 in LaGrange Georgia, to the late Alvah Claude Moultrie Jr. and Betsy Davis Moultrie. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Louise Moultrie. Al and Mary were members of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. Al attended public schools in LaGrange and graduated from West Georgia College in Carrollton, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
Being a golfer since age 7, he started his career as the golf professional at Riverside Country Club in Lanett, Alabama. Al then decided his love for teaching would be better served in a class setting. He then received his BA in Education from LaGrange College. Al went on to teach history at Garner Newman Middle School for 13 years. He was large in stature for the kids but had the heart of a gentle giant.
Al was a former member of Highland Country Club where he was taught the golf game by the great pro Marvin McClain. Al loved his after-church Sunday foursome of Sam Thrower, Richard “Cut” Haralson, and Billy Trotter.
Funeral services for Alvah Moultrie will be held at First Presbyterian Church LaGrange on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 with visitation from 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. in the fellowship hall, the funeral service will be held following visitation at 1:00 P.M. in the sanctuary, with a graveside service to follow at Shadowlawn cemetery.
Flowers will be greatly appreciated, but those that may contribute donations to Wellstar West Ga. Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange.
