
Mrs. Moultrie was born December 24, 1922, daughter of the late Robert Cooper Davis and Bess Morgan Davis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvah Claude “Buddy” Moultrie, Jr and a sister, Jennie McHugh. She was a LaGrange High School graduate and attended Georgia State College for Women, and earned her bachelor degree from Auburn University in Business Administration. She did post graduate work at the University of West Georgia and LaGrange College. While at Auburn she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Mrs. Moultrie was a member of the LaGrange Cotillion Club and the Highland Country Club. She was the Ladies golf champion in 1975 and was a member of the LaGrange Woman’s Club and chosen “Woman of the Year” in 2002.
Mrs. Moultrie was retired from Troup High School as a teacher and was chosen Star Teacher in 1975. She was appointed by Gov. George Busbee to serve on the Council of Vocational Education for the State of Georgia. She was a member of the Troup County Retired Teacher Association.
Mrs. Moultrie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, having served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Mary Louise Moultrie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange with Dr. Douglas DeCelle and Dr. William Conine officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange Memorial Fund in memory of Mrs. Betsy Davis Moultrie.
