Carolyn S. Evans

Carolyn was born in LaGrange, GA, daughter of Bennie Perry Swanson and Sallie Mae Wright Swanson. She graduated from LaGrange High School and attended Business School. She worked as a secretary for the Douglas County Department of Family and Children’s Services before retiring to the Mountville Community.

She married the love of her life, Roswell “Ros” L. Evans, Sr. on May 22, 1946 and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Ros preceded her in death in 2012.

Carolyn, “Cal” as she was also known, loved her family, cooking, and especially her flower garden. She was well known for her beautiful floral arrangements. She often brought her flowers to her Sunday School Class, The Adult Fellowship Class, at First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. She is a former member of the Pine Needle Garden Club.

Carolyn is survived by four sons and their wives, R. Lee Evans, Jr. (Brenda) of Auburn, AL, Bennie C. Evans (Anna) of Griffin, GA, Dan C. Evans (Jan) of LaGrange, GA, and Charles M. Evans (Deborah) of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Evans (Jessica) of Foristell, MO, Heather (Mike) Toeneboehn of Auburn, AL, Marise (Andrew) Evans-Perry of Deerfield, NH, Molly Evans of Bloomington, ID, Camille (Joel) Garrison of Jacksonville, FL, Marshall Evans of Atlanta, GA, Alex Evans of Marietta, GA, and Swanny Evans of Athens, GA; four great grandchildren, Monica Evans, Elijah Evans, Abigail Toeneboehn, and Grayson Toeneboehn; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation with the family of Carolyn Evans will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. til 3:00 P.M. before the funeral service at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Dr. Harold Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, FUMC Troop 21 or First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, Bereavement Committee.
