Mrs. Whatley was born in the Oak Grove Community of Troup County on January 1, 1918 and had lived in LaGrange since 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband, S.V. Whatley, and her son, Judge Robert Whatley.
Survivors include her daughter, Milly Whatley of Bend, OR; two grandchildren, Tina Marie Couch of Williamson, GA and Paul Whatley of Harrisonburg, VA; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including Ken Carter of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 9, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Paul Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
The family requests that, in lieu of contributing flowers, friends make donations to the Vernon Woods Employees Benevolent Fund.
