Grace B. Brooks Sims

Mrs. Sims was born May 29, 1913 in Chambers County, Alabama, daughter of the late Leslie Wilkins Brooks and Leola Stevens Brooks. She had lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a Charter Member of Western Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Harry E. (Sherry) Sims and Jerry M. (Janice W.) Sims; a brother, Rev. James Robert Brooks; grandchildren, Ashley (John) Mirseyedi, Ginger (Steve) Wyatt, Ronnie Nelson, Tracy Sims, Casey Sims, Todd (Cindy) Sims, Danny (Tracey) Sims, Katherine Marie Sims, Susan Grace Sims, Harry Edward (Jeanie) Sims, Steve Lindsey, and Tracy (Rusty) Frost; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. E. Sims; a son, Bobby Sims; a grandson, Jerry E. “Chip” Sims; a great-grandson, Benjamin Zac Sims; sisters, Mildred Jones and Francis Bors; and brothers, Owen Brooks and Pete Brooks.

The family will gather to receive friends at Western Heights Baptist Church from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. at the church with Rev. Steve Vickery and Rev. Donnie Benefield officiating. A private entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.

The family will be at the home of Jerry and Janice Sims, 4534 West Point Road.
