
James L. ‘Jimmy’ Jordan, Jr., passed away at Hospice LaGrange on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2010.Jimmy was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia August 11, 1962 and was the son of Dr. Evelyn Jordan and the late James L. Jordan. He was a 1980 graduate of LaGrange High School, attended Duke University, and graduated from LaGrange College in 1985. He also did graduate studies at Florida State University. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Anne Jordan.A major in Chemistry led to jobs with the State of Florida, a subsidiary of Northrop Industries, Lockheed, and Bechtel. His career led him from Tallahassee, FL to Athens, GA, to Las Vegas, NV to San Diego, CA, and Knoxville, TN.He received numerous honors during his lifetime. Among them was recognition as a distinguished graduate of LaGrange College. In 1999, he was recognized by the U.S. Navy for a special project on environmental restoration. He was also appointed to a commission to study environmental issues concerning laboratories by President George Bush.Survivors in addition to his mother, Evelyn Jordan of LaGrange, include several cousins.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange with Dr. Harold Lawrence, Dr. Gil Watson, and Dr. Stuart Gulley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday.A graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 in Mt.
