Lillian Louise Loyd

Mrs. Loyd was born October 7, 1928 to the late David Alford Gordon and Leodie Knott Gordon. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Loyd was retired from Mansour’s Department Store, were she worked for thirty plus years in the shoe department and was often referred to by the moniker "shoe lady." In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Major Gilbert M. Loyd; brother, Alton Gordon; sister, Nancy Jackie Cooper; brother, David “Pete” Gordon and nephew, David Cooper.

Survivors include her daughters, Katherine “Katha” Loyd of LaGrange, GA; Samantha Loyd of Charleston, SC; son, Michael Loyd of Fairbanks, AK; nephew, Terry Cooper of LaGrange, GA; extended family includes Stephanie Phillips-Hardy, Vanessa Roberts, Karen Hodnett and family, Elizabeth, Denise, and Camryn Willingham, Tina, Mark and Asher Smith, Althena Timmons, Michael Shirley, and Kim Bills; as well as her beloved, “Potter”.

The Rosary will be Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the funeral home and the gathering of family and friends will follow from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be 12:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Peter’s Counsel of Catholic Women.
