Madelyn C. Cole

Mrs. Cole was born February 9, 1923 in Stewart County, Georgia, daughter of the late Leon Vaughn Crawford and Mary Frances Perkins Crawford. She worked and managed Elrod’s Variety Store for 28 years. Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her husband Albert Cole; a son, Albert Vaughn Cole; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Caryn Cole of LaGrange; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and John T. Liggett of Lewisburg, TN; five grandchildren, Brantley Cole and Lindsey Cole, both of LaGrange, Scotty and Debbie Liggett, Genia and Bryan Borton and Randy Liggett, all of Lewisburg, TN; six great-grandchildren, Cody Liggett, Cole Liggett, Drew Liggett, Mary Katheryn Liggett, Jacey Marie Liggett, and Laird Johnsey; a great-great granddaughter, Faith Madelyn Liggett; a brother, Marvin Crawford of Hickory, TN; a sister-in-law, Betty Crawford of Greenville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services in Cuthbert will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Cuthbert with Rev. Floyd Hipp officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour on Monday.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Madelyn Crawford Cole.
