Margie F. Williamson

Mrs. Williamson was born October 29, 1922, daughter of the late Posie A. Freeman and Eula Whatley Freeman and raised in the Abbottsford Community of Troup County. She was a 1939 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended LaGrange Opportunity Business School. Margie received a teaching certificate in 1939 in music with a focus on piano. She worked as a Secretary at the General Office of Callaway Mills Credit Department. She was a member of LaGrange First United Methodist where she was active for many years in the Children’s division and also served as coordinator of children’s ministries in the LaGrange District. She was a member of the Susanna Wesley Circle Group and served as the pianist for the Adult Fellowship Sunday school class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar L. Williamson and son, Gregory M. Williamson. She is survived by a daughter, Jan W. Sims and her husband, James O. Sims; granddaughter, Caroline L. Sims, all of Kennesaw, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at LaGrange First United Methodist Church with Dr. Wallace Wheeles and Dr. Harold Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to United Methodist Children’s Home (500 S. Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA 30030) or LaGrange First United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Margie F. Williamson.
