Merry Ellen Kennedy, 76, was born to James Albert Knight and Myrtle Holland Knight on August 19, 1948. The youngest of five siblings, Merry was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lynn Kennedy, brother Fred J. Ballard and sisters, Barbara Jean Simmons, Linda Carol Preston.
Merry is survived by her daughter, Katherine “Kate” Rowland, son-in-law, Robert Rowland, granddaughter, Paige Rowland and grandson, Zachariah Rowland, sister, Catherine Bowen, nephew, Clete (Tina) Bowen, great nephew, Justin (Lauren) Bowen, nieces, Marian Simmons, Cecelia Nations (Phil) and Miranda Ballard all of LaGrange. Out of town nieces and nephews include Lisa (Tom) Price, Michael, Stephanie and Christopher Simmons, Sharon (Tony) Zilich and Terri Preston.
Merry was a 1966 graduate of Troup County High School and 2007 graduate of West GA Technical College in accounting. For several years, she owned and operated Merry’s Quik Stop on Hamilton Road. She also worked as a pharmacy tech at K-Mart, quality inspector at Hanes Hosiery and other positions in manufacturing. She retired from Inflations Systems.
Merry received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. A member of Lakeview Baptist Church she loved her church family and was happiest when she could be at church.
The Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Adam Neil officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
