

Mrs. Howard was born September 8, 1913 in Bacon Level, AL (Randolph County) the daughter of the late Steve and Ina Allen. She retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell, and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack 34 for 14 years. Mrs. Howard was an avid gardener and bird watcher. She was the oldest living member of Dunson United Methodist Church and was a past member of the U.M.W. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, Harry S. ‘Cotton’ Howard; two sons, Alton S. Howard and Larry A. Howard; and by two brothers, William Allen and Clinton ‘Shorty’ Allen.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her daughter-in-law, Bobbie W. Howard; three grandsons, Teddy A. Howard, and his wife Dale, of Carrollton, James A. ‘Jim’ Howard, and his wife Sally, of Macon, and Steve Livingston, and his wife Julia, of Pine Mountain; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Howard will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Gary Parrish, Rev. Alvin Lingenfelter, and Rev. Howard Longshore officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the memorial service hour on Sunday.
