She was born in 1936 in LaGrange, GA, the daughter of the late John and Clara Stewart. She graduated from Agnes Scott College and earned her masters and doctorate from The University of North Carolina. She was retired from the English department of The University of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Clare Stewart Moore and Caroline Stewart Swett and survived by her brother, John Stewart (Ann) and her sister, Ellen Davidson (Bill) of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Pat.
The family will receive visitors at the family’s home place, 1405 Vernon Road on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. A private interment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West GA Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, GA 30240, or to your favorite charity.
