Ricky was born December 9, 1961 in Groom, TX, son of Shirley Ann Akery Nixson and the late Wilbert Ashley Jr. He was a Carpenter by trade and done some exceptional woodworking. He loved to fish, listen to music and go to concerts, where he always had to get another hat. Ricky loved his dog, “Boomer” and took to heart the saying, “Man’s Best Friend.” In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Scottie Foster and brother-in-law, James Caraway.
Survivors include his loving wife, Debra Wooten Ashley; mother, Shirley Nixon; sisters, Brenda (Larry) Jennings, Debbie (Tim) Brooks, and Dorothy Jackson; sister-in-law, Judy (Fred) Pruitt; nieces and nephews, Angel (Kasey) Worrells, Crystal (Jeremy) Bolt, Deana (Bobby) Stuart, Clint (Kip) Caraway, Matthew Jackson, Christy (Chris) Zolomy, Sammy (Tammy) Bailey, Michael (Misty) Bailey; several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
