

He was born January 12, 1940, in Washington Court House, Ohio to the late Henry Jacob Ater and Leona Matson Ater. He married his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Lou Smallwood Ater on October 26, 1958.
Also preceding him were his (2) sisters: Harriet Jane Ater and Lora Catherine Ater Spencer. He has (5) surviving siblings: Rita Ann Ater McClain (Donald McClain) of Columbus, Ohio, Carol Richard Ater ( Lula Ater) of Jamestown, Ohio, Mary Lou Ater Oswalt (Bill Oswalt) of Jamestown, Ohio, John William Ater of Jamestown, Ohio, Patricia Ater Jacobs of Indian Lake, Ohio.
Also surviving are two children, Robert Jeffrey Ater of West Point, Georgia and Vivian June Ater (Michael) Caraway of Rydal, Georgia; grandchildren, Connie Sue (Brad) Jordan, Patricia Marie (Jeffrey) Zemlicka, Carrie Ann (Justine) Spillman, Robert William (Sandy) Ater, Christopher (Samatha) Ater; (18) great-grandchildren, Shelby Anastasia Jordan, Haddassah Alana Zemlicka, Zipporah Eden Zemlicka, Dianiah Eve Zemlicka, Ephrain Gideon Zemlicka, Matthew John Warrenburg, Elizabeth Ann Caraway, William Thomas Warrenburg, Brittany Ann Spillman, Jordan Lee Spillman, Chloe Elizabeth Spillman, Jacob Allan Spillman, Isaac Zebadiah Spillman, Kayla Nicole Ater, Robert Henry Ater, Christina Ann Ater, Brittany Marie Ater, Riley Ater, Destiny Marie; (1) great-great grandchild, Ryker Morgan.
Ronald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great, great-grandfather. He spent seven years in the Army and Ohio National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, animals-farming, and fishing, playing the harmonic and playing music on his Q-chord.
Ronald kept the seventh day Sabbath and attended church his whole life and loved worshipping Yehavoh (God) and serving his Savior, Yeshua the Messiah.
A small funeral service will be held at the Georgia National Memorial Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at 11:30 am on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Since there is an attendance limit of 10 persons, there will be later in the year and in the same location a service for him, and anyone wishing to attend can do so at that time. Date and time will be decided at a later time.
