Thelma was born October 6, 1947 in Fort Valley, GA, daughter of the late James A. Blackston and Lillian Mays Blackston. She was a member of Dunson Baptist Church and retired from the Troup County Board of Education as a Cook. Thelma loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and being around her neighbors and friends. IN addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma Jean Yaughn Lopez; a sister, Flossie Johnson; a grandchild, Lauren Yaughn; a special aunt and uncle, Helen and Charles Bond; and several other aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Survivors include her son, Tony (Wendy) Yaughn of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Joshua (Faith) Yaughn of LaGrange, GA, Moises Lopez and Roberto Lopez both of Macon, GA, and Paige Proctor of Springfield, OH; cousin, James Bond of Danielsville, GA; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 6:00pm Friday, September 10, 2021 at Dunson Baptist Church, 5 Barnard Avenue, LaGrange, GA.
