

Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Brand Vincent, 95, will begin at 2pm, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd, 715 Kirkman Street under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12pm until time of service.
Inurnment will follow in the Good Shepherd columbarium.
Officiating will be The Reverend Frances “Boo” Kay.
Mrs. Vincent died January 15, 2018.
She was born Nov. 28, 1922 in Greenville, Ms. to John Brand and Ruth Walker Brand, the youngest of three daughters. The family relocated to Hobbs, N.M. where Ms. Vincent graduated from Hobbs High School in 1940.
She enrolled in Stephens College, then an all-woman, two year college, in Columbia, MO, where she completed an Associate of Arts degree in 1942. Ms. Vincent then enrolled at the University of Colorado.
On Jan, 3, 1945, Ms. Vincent married Lt. William H. Shearman, U.S. Marine Corps. The couple relocated to Lake Charles, LA., upon completion of Lt. Shearman’s military obligation.
The couple had six children, all born in Lake Charles. William H. “Bill,” Shearman, Jr. and wife Sue; John Thomas Shearman (deceased), Nancy Walker Shearman, Walker Ward Shearman and wife Deborah; Stacy Lynn Shearman and Douglas Randolph Shearman and wife Claire. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Vincent was a communicant of Good Shepherd for all of her adult life. She served on the Altar Guild and Vestry as well as various committees of the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School, 803 N. Division St., Lake Charles, LA 70601
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Arthur Primeaux and his staff as well as St. Patrick Hospital.
