Angela Kay Johnson

She was born January 14, 1970 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Gipson and Catherine Johnson. Angela grew up in Moss Bluff and went to Sam Houston High School, where she was a member of the Lady Bronco softball team. Both of Angela’s jobs where in the service industry, where she started from entry level positions and worked her way up to manager. In management, she made many friends and was well loved. In 2012, Angela was diagnosed with cancer and she fought such a good fight and eventually became disabled because she could no longer speak. Being the fighter that she is and her passion for baking and cooking, she started her own business out of her home. Her greatest joy was her family and friends; especially her nieces, Morgan, Sydney and Taylor Wilder and nephews, Hayden and Christian Conner. She had a special cousin, Joanne Rougeau, who made many sacrifices in order to care for Angela. If you knew her, you loved her. We would like to thank all of the angels in her life that prayed for her, as well as, Dr. Mohammad Khan and his staff for taking care of her. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions can be made in memory of Angela to the American Cancer Society.

Angela is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William H. Morgan and Margaret A. Morgan; paternal grandparents, Claudia Johnson, McClennan Johnson, Lee Connor and Dorothy Conner and by her brother, Derek Conner.

Left behind to treasure her memory is her father, Gipson Johnson (aka Little Dad) and step-mother, Jerry; mother, Catherine Connor and step-father, John Conner (aka Big Dad); sister, Debra Wilder and husband Errol and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00am at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with visitation resuming at 9:00am. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
