

Carl E. Bennett, Jr., age 87 of Lake Charles passed away January 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife Mildred M. Bennett. Carl was born November 3, 1929 in Merryville, Louisiana to Carl E. Bennett, Sr. and Florence Powell Bennett.
After graduating from Merryville High School, he worked briefly for Crosby Chemical in DeRidder until going to work for United Gas Corp. He worked in several departments; Construction, Service and Sales, achieving Salesman of the Year Award for Southwest Louisiana Division.
After several transfers and promotions, he accepted a Manager position with United Gas Corp. in Pleasanton, Texas. In addition to his work, he was involved in many activities. He was President of Pony League baseball, Vice President of Little League, Vice President of Rotary Club, Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, served on Pleasanton School Board, and as District Chairman for the Boy Scouts of Americas.
After returning to Lake Charles, he worked for Moody Price, Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #271 F&AM.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Max Bennett and brother in-law George Townsley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years; sons Dale Bennett, David Bennett, Donald Bennett and wife Neva, and Dennis Bennett; grandchildren, Jeff Bennett, Rachael Duhon, and Daicha Guillard; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Bruce Bennett and wife Melonee, Herman Bennett and wife Marie; sister LaVerne Townsley; sister in-law Betty Bennett.
Visitation will be held January 6, 2016 from 10am until the time of service. Service will be held at 11am at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Pastor Randy Edwards will officiate.
