Clara Jean Mcclure

She was born December 10, 1933 in Alto, LA to Dawson and Hazel Childress. She was married to Huey P. McClure for 62 years, who preceded her in death. Her parents, her brother, Douglas Childress and her sister, Louise Howard also preceded her in death.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Carolyn “C.J.” Long and her husband, Glenn of LeBleu Settlement and Deborah Mouton and her husband, Dalton of Moss Bluff; two brothers, Carl Childress and Ronnie Childress both of Mangham, LA; three sisters, Marie Hicks of West Monroe, Betty Romero of Mangham and Tina Traxler of Rayville, LA; step sisters, Mary Robertson and Erma Burge of Winnsboro, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Clara was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1953. She taught Sunday school to 4 and 5 year olds for over 45 years. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 5 to 9 pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. The funeral service will be Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home; the Rev. Tom Bruce will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles.
