It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Doris Clara “LeBleu” Duff. She passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, after her short battle with pancreatic cancer, at Hospice of Acadiana – Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born June 12, 1952, in her family home on LeBleu Settlement to Iris and Ricky LeBleu. She lived life as a true free spirit, strong-willed, independent, with a touch of rebellion (and if you knew Doris, you knew she ain’t got time for your sh**), with a deep and unwavering devotion to her family. Doris had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and children in need, always offering compassion, kindness, and a roof, wherever she could. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, working with her hands, binge-watching “90 Day Fiancé” (if you know, you know), spending time outdoors with her plants, fishing, soaking up the sun, and could often be found winning the blackout down at the bingo hall.
Her children and grandchildren hold special memories of her storytelling, cooking, dancing in the kitchen, fussing about salt, and always having a house full of cousins, friends and neighborhood kids.
She is survived by her children, Iris (Rob), Richard “Scooter” (Candace), Diana (Rob), Sylvia, and Stepson Raymond (Dawn); her partner of 13 years, Charles; siblings, Judy (Late Alford), Jeanette (Allen), Mickey (late Jerry), Nettie Sue (late Russell), Mitchell, and Carolyn; grandchildren, Robert, Arianna, Carman, Brylan, Austin, Christina, Theresa, Kaitlyn, Viviane, Harmony, Justin, Dwayne, Destiny and Jeffrey, step-grandchildren, Chipper, Branson, Jadie, Avery, and Phillip; great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Aliah, Asher, Emersyn, Sage, Lilah, Evelynn, Landen, Jeffery Jr., Mya, Hunter, Gracelyn, and Xiekel; as well as many nieces and nephews. Doris is also survived by her niece, Jeri Lynn, whom she helped raise, and her former son-in-law, Porter, whom she had a special bond with.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Richard Duff, Sr.; her parents, Iris and Ricky LeBleu; her grandsons, Preston and Isiah; and her grandparents.
We want to express our deepest gratitude and thanks to both the wonderful team on Eight South at Lafayette General and Hospice of Acadiana – Calcutta House, who allowed her final days to be filled with comfort, peace and dignity. Also, the patience, guidance and compassion shown to her family during this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 20th from 3pm-6pm at J.E. Hixson & Sons Funeral home located at 3001 Ryan St. Lake Charles, LA 70601.
