Dorothy Abernathy

(1927-2015)

Dorothy Abernathy, 87, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Hospital. She was a housewife and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to cook and bake, along with working in the yard.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Homer Abernathy, and Robert “Bobby” Abernathy and wife Brenda of Lake Charles, along with seven grandchildren, Leahanne Abernathy, Melissa Abernathy Stoker, Jessica Abernathy, Bethany White, Stacie Abernathy, Shelly Spaulding, Rachel Abernathy, along with 8 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Abernathy, her parents, Jimmie and Effie Stewart, one son Billy Abernathy, five brothers, Olin, Marvin, Claude, Billy, and Bobby, and two sisters Alice Brewster and Omie Blackman.

Her service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 2:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be on the same day one hour prior starting at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles.
