

Ella was born in Crowley and lived in Mossville for many years prior to moving to Lake Charles. She was a outstanding cook and seamstress and loved to travel and shop. Ella served as everyone’s Mawmaw and took care of many friends, families and children. She was also a member of the St. John Bosco Church.
Ella is proceeded in death by her parents, Walker Beverly and Alice Walter; husband, Joseph Payne; sisters Octavia Simpson; Sadie Bell Beverly; Gloria Green; brothers, Walter Beverly; Cliff Beverly; Curvis Green; Curtis Green; Eugene Staley; Clyde Beverly and her nephew she raised, Elmer Jefferson.
Ella is survived by her two daughters, Linda Balquet of Augusta, GA and Mary Alice Martin of Silsbee, TX; one sister, Emma Holden of Sacramento, CA and her two granddaughters that she raised, Lydia Amos of Lake Charles and Pamela Richard of Lake Charles. She is also survived by her 23 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren and 58 great great grandchildren. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 from 10am-12pm at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. A rosary will be held at 11am. Funeral service will begin at 12pm at the church.
