Emma Jean Miller-Fontenot, age 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, March 2, 2022, at her residence. She was welcomed into heaven by her late parents, Arceneaux and Artemise Boudreaux and late husband of 40 years, Layton Noel Miller.
She was born in Creole, LA on October 29, 1942. In her younger years, she worked outdoors with her sisters and dad. She owned Jean’s Beauty Salon for upwards of 20 years. She became a cattlewoman following her late husband’s passing. She was truly an avid outdoorswoman, that loved gardening and bushhogging.
She was the life of any party and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the CFMA, and a homemaker in her late life. She enjoyed Cajun Music, cooking, and playing Rummy with family on Sundays. Jean enjoyed going to church regularly and was a devout Catholic. She always made sure to keep everyone in her daily prayers.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Clifford Fontenot; four sisters, Barbara LeBoeuf of Sulphur; Marianna Benoit of Lake Charles; Judy Conerly and husband, Don of Poplarville, MS; Sandra Gail Boudreaux of Cameron; four children, Gerard Miller and wife, Cheryl of Lacassine, LA; Todd Miller and wife, Tammy Jo of Bell City, LA; George Miller and wife, Stacy of Grandlake, LA; Medina Percle and husband, Chris of Sulphur, LA; five step-children, Sharon Reed and husband, Mark; Martha Williams and husband, Paul; Cliff Fontenot and wife, Marla; Sylvia McFarlin and husband, Chris; Delson and Kelley Fontenot ; 25 grandchildren, Garrett, Jordan, Cammy, Ali Beth, Ryan, Anthony, Jade, Sean, Sarah, Abby, Luke, Jessica, Gannon, Celeste, Justin, Ivan, Paul Jr., Nicole, Adam, Megan, Nick, Jacob, Devon, Cameron, Andy, and Lindsey; 34 great grandchildren; along with a hosts of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place Sunday March 6, 2022 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles from 4 pm to 8 pm with a Rosary at 6 pm. The visitation will resume Monday March 7, 2022 at the temporary site for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole beginning at 12 pm with a Rosary at 1:15 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday March 7, 2022 at 2 pm at the temporary site for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole celebrated by Rev. Jerish George, M.O.C.
