

Frances T. Dickens, 89, made her grand entrance into heaven on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in a local hospital. Frances was a housewife and loving mother and grandmother to her two children and two grandchildren.
She was a native of Beaufort, North Carolina but had lived in Lake Charles for the past 66 years. As a member of First United Methodist Church, she served in the Caring Ministry, UMW, Mary Esther Circle, and Builders Sunday School Class. The Garden Club, Dinner Club, Supper Club, and D.M.A. (Don't Mention Age) were social groups where her out-going personality and flair for entertaining endeared her to the fellow members. She was also an active member of PEO. Frances enjoyed antique shows, decorating, and was famous for her candlestick collection.
Survivors include one son, Horace L. “Dickie” Dickens, Jr. and wife Cathi of Lake Charles; one daughter, Debbie D. Rasberry of Lake Charles; two sisters, Cindy Woodward and Addie Carrow Whitley; two grandchildren, Matthew Rasberry and wife Farris of Knoxville, TN and Carrow Rasberry of New Orleans.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace L. “Dick” Dickens, Sr.; her parents, Philip and Irene Thomas; one brother, Philip Thomas; one sister, Irene Tyler Jordan; and her son-in-law, Michael Rasberry.
Her funeral will be at 10a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation is from 8a.m. until service time Wednesday in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Fisher House, Michael J Fox Foundation, or Wounded Warrior Project.
