

He was a native of Verda, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 17 years, coming from New Orleans. Wayne began his teaching career after receiving his Master's of Education from Northwestern State University. He taught in Sicily Island, Verda, Franklin, Reserve, University of New Orleans, and most recently at Barbe High School in Lake Charles. He was a U.S. Army veteran and also taught in Japan and Korea while proudly serving his country.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Myong "Millie" Oglesby of Sulphur; his son, Gary Oglesby and wife, Lisa of Mesa, Arizona; his step-son, Mike Bitoun and wife, Maria of Houston, Texas; his sister, Mary "Cissy" Cormane and husband, W.C. of Montgomery; his brother, Don Oglesby and wife, Missy of Verda; his grandson, D.J. Bitoun; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet "Danny Boy". He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Mary Oglesby.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feburary 14, in Verda Baptist Church. Burial will be in Verda Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Pallbearers will be Gary Oglesby, Mike Bitoun, Scott Cormane, Arland Humphrey, W.C. Cormane, and Darrell Oglesby. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the church.
