Funeral services for Harry Plaisance, age 94, will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be immediately following at Highland Memory Gardens. Pastor Michael Schamblin will be officiating at the services. Visitation services will be held on Friday at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
Mr. Plaisance passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2021 at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran's Home in Jennings. A native of Gueydan, he had lived in Lake Charles since 1949. Before moving to Lake Charles, he was a rice farmer. After moving to Lake Charles, he worked at the Swift Packaging Plant for 10 years and then worked for the City of Lake Charles as a heavy duty operator for 31 years where he then retired. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Lake Charles. Mr. Plaisance was a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he served in WWII.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Frank Plaisance and wife Cindy of Griffin, GA.; daughter, Barbara Cooke and husband Robert Dwain Cooke of Ellijay, GA.; grandson, Kris Cooke of Carbondale, CO.; granddaughters, Kelly Moore and husband Stephen and Amie Chambers and spouse Robin all of Griffin, GA.; sister, Gladys P. Istre of Lake Charles; and great granddaughters, Maggie, Emily, Madison Chambers, and Mallorie Moore all of Griffin, GA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 55 years, Virgie Gaspard Plaisance.
