

Henry "Hank" Hansford Ratcliff, age 98, of Jennings, Louisiana passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021. "Hank" was born January 11, 1923 in Columbia, Louisiana to William Henry Ratcliff and Annie Turner Ratcliff.
During 1942 Hank enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably until 1946. He married Effie Lois Peshoff Ratcliff and raised three children. Hank enjoyed photography, traveling on vacations, and going out to eat. He loved to tease others and liked to be the center of attention. At the Veterans' care facility in Jennings, he was known for his teasing and singing "You are My Sunshine" while sitting on the edge of his bed to all the nurses who would pass.
Hank is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of over 50 years Effie Louis Ratcliff; son, John Wade Ratcliff; daughter, Rhonda Hall Steinmetz; brother's, J.L. Ratcliff, Bud Ratcliff, Carlos Glen Ratcliff, Joe Derm, Jackie Boy Steel, sister, Aileen Picket.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Carlos Gerald Ratcliff and wife Delores of Baytown TX; sister, Doris Osburn of Houston, TX; son-in-law, Charlie Steinmetz; four grandchildren, and 6 great
grandchildren.
A visitation for "Hank" will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 3001 Ryan St., Lake Charles, LA. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Lacassine Catholic Cemetery.
