Jimmy Lee Poole of Big Lake, Louisiana has entered God’s Kingdom surrounded by his loving family on November 5, 2025, at the age of 83. Jimmy, also affectionately known as “Pawz” by his grandchildren, was a loyal servant of God. This was most evident by his generous spirit, hospitality, and kindness even to strangers. He felt closest to God sitting in his deer stand or crabbing on the lake.
Jimmy was well known for his straightforward personality and love for his wife and family. He also treasured the special moments he was able to spend with his daughter Becky in the final years of his life. Pawz always made sure he was the first one to introduce chocolate and ice cream to all of the babies even if their parents said NO!! If Jimmy wasn’t at home spending time with his wife, he was most likely out looking for mischievous endeavors with his best friend Monty Pearce, whom he loved as if he was his son.
Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Burrows, Danna Wakins, and Rebecca Chiasson along with many grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom he cherished and adored. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane (Pete) Poole Hebert of Abbeville, LA and Judy Poole Chiasson of Lake Charles, LA.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nettie Dee Poole; son, Dwaine Poole; daughter, Shanna Poole Tarver; and granddaughter Alicia Tarver. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Helen (Daigle) Poole.
The family of Jimmy would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love, compassion and continuous support provided by Heart of Hospice and Gloria Broussard. Also a special thanks is extended to Nneka ‘Nia’ Leblanc, who became like family while caring for both Dee and Jimmy in their final years.
A celebration of his life will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial service to honor his memory at 4:00 p.m.
