A native of Holmwood, she was a longtime resident of Bell City. She was retired from the family business, Louisiana Flyers Inc., where she worked alongside her husband for almost 30 years. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Ladies Altar Society and Choir. She decorated the altar for years with flowers and greenery mostly from her garden. She also beautifully decorated and made window treatments for the Rectory.
She loved to read, sew, cook, garden, travel, dance, genealogy, nutrition and decorate her home for the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved a warm fire, the aroma of something cooking in the kitchen, and spending time with her family. She was known as 'Grandmother' to her grandchildren and enjoyed making divinity and other goodies with them throughout the year. All of us feel gratitude of having been her family and will keep memories of her forever in our hearts.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Norman; children, Denise Babaz (Kermit) of Sulphur, Brian Keith Fruge (Nancy) of Bell City, Kirsten Livingston (Arr) of Lake Charles, Leslie Fruge of Lake Charles and Andre Fruge (Cheryl) of Bell City; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents-Weir and Rose Flournoy, grandson-Stewart Reese Fruge, brother-Tim Flournoy, sisters-Billie Jean Todd and Francis 'Nucy' Elkins.
The Rev. Michael Beverung will officiate the Celebration of Life and Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City on Monday, February 13th. The family will receive friends between 8:30am-11am in the church, with a Mass at 11am. She will be laid to rest at the Hayes Cemetery.
