

JoAnn Cline Humble, 85, departed this life on October 1, 2015. She was born May 16, 1930 in Lake Charles, LA to parents Robert Lebby Cline, Sr. and Lucy LaCaze Cline. She loved to cook and entertain and was known for her legendary parties through the years which she would decorate to the very best. She was proud to be a member of the Lake Charles High School Kiltie Drill Squad. JoAnn also loved her years as a camp counselor at Camp Mystic. She attended LSU Baton Rouge and pledged Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and then transferred to McNeese State University, where she was a cheerleader, played on the women’s basketball team and became President of the first four year graduating class in 1951. JoAnn was recognized in the Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. She remained a loyal McNeese fan throughout her life by attending games, was a member of the McNeese Alumni Golden Scholars, the Alumni Association and the McNeese Foundation. She was recognized as a lifetime member of the McNeese Quarterback Club along with her husband for their many years of support. JoAnn sponsored the R.L. Cline, Sr. trophy in memory of G.W. “Billy” Cline awarded annually to the most valuable senior football player. This trophy has been awarded since 1945 and her family will continue this tradition. She was also a member of the Junior League of Lake Charles and the Big Lake Invitational Fishing Tournament where she enjoyed participating in the skits during the early years of the tournament. JoAnn started the Halos, a bereavement program, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. She was always active in her church no matter where she lived.
She is survived by a daughter, Lucy Ann Humble Raster and husband William “Billy” Atkins Raster of Houston, TX, a son, Robert Francis Humble of Sulphur, LA, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Jim” M. Humble, her parents, and brothers, George William “Billy” Cline and Robert Lebby Cline, Jr., along with one sister, Mary Cline Hudson.
Services will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00pm, located at 123 West Sale Road in Lake Charles, LA. Rev. Petroula Ruehlen will be officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October, 9, 2015 from 4:00-7:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles located at 3001 Ryan St. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 11:00am till the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
Pallbearers for JoAnn’s service will be J.T. Milford, Louis Bonnette, Bobby Keasler, Dr. Sherwood Gill, Dr. James A. Leithead, Capt. Jeff Poe, Ben Lay, and Gerald Quibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers: Pete Dickinson, Harold Price, A.J. LaCaze, Dixon Lewis, Dr. John Stubblefield and Matt Viator.
