

Lake Charles - John D. Broussard, 88, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2012 in a local hospital. He was born August 18, 1923 in Youngsville, LA.
He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Bunice Broussard; children, Faye and Kerry Savant, Lynn and Debra Broussard;; Kenneth and Linda Broussard; Jerry and Sheila Toney Broussard; Gil and Gayla Dawn Allee Broussard, Mary Beth and Brent Fendley; brothers, Andrus Broussard, Joseph Broussard; grandchildren, Toni Mora, Jolene Martinez, Jason, John, Justin, Rebeka and John David Broussard, Derrick, Alicia and Brandon Fendley and Jackie Guidry; seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his grandchildren Nicole and Jeremy Savant and great grandchild Addysyn Fendley.
He was an active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. He held rank of sergeant in the US Army. He was a flame thrower instructor and was stationed at Pearl Harbor and made a tour in Guadalcanal. He embraced his Cajun heritage and upon his retirement pursued his passion of French music by learning to play the accordion. He loved playing with various musicians and friends at his home.
His funeral service will be 1pm, Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Visitation will begin Thursday from 3pm-9pm, French rosary at 5pm and resume Friday at 9am with a rosary at 11am at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
