He was born in Jennings and lived in Westlake prior to moving to Lafayette twelve years ago. John retired from Himont as an operator. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at Toledo Bend. John loved history and studying about historical facts. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his brothers, Paul Reed of Houston, TX and Keith Reed and wife Melissa of Moss Bluff; nephews, Ryan Metzger and Matthew Metzger both of Westlake; nieces, Sarah McClimon of Iowa and Brandi Reed of Houston; great nephew, Dean McClimon; and great nieces, Scarlette Metzger and Makenzie Metzger. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Austin and Jeanette Reed; and sister, Sandy Metzger.
Visitation will be from 8am-11am Friday, June 19, 2015 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. A Memorial Service will be at 11am Friday at the funeral home. Reverend Alan Trouille will officiate. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
