Joyce Burnett Shaheen

Joyce was born October 22, 1926 in Lake Charles to Harry and Mary Sullivan Burnett. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy. She was married to the love of her life, Jake Shaheen, who predeceased her. She was very active and social, full of life. She was active thru her later years with Senior Friends and Senior Circle. She loved to travel and loved shopping. She never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jake, her sister, Lois Burnett Cascio and her nephew Bobby Howard. She is survived by her two children, Jackie Shaheen and Debbie Shaheen Wadsack; her niece, Judy Howard St. Dizier, whom she raised as her daughter and one brother, Joe Ray Burnett; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, all who affectionately called her “Nanny.”

Visitation will be Monday, November 3rd from 4p.m.-8p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with a rosary at 6p.m. Visitation will resume at 11a.m. on Tuesday until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 1p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.
