One year today.  And I still miss you like it was yesterday.  I think about you very often.  You have never left my mind.  I miss you so much Grandmommy

I was only around her a few times but the times I was, she was a hoot.  Very sweet and I loved her laugh.  I know she will be missed and I'm so sorry for the family's loss.  My prayers and thoughts are with you all.  Love always. Michelle, Gavyn and Kaidyn Duplantis

My childhood with granny was amazing.   Everything Tina Agee said was true.  One of my memories is when Poppy would go to work at night and granny would take us to the mall or whatever we wanted to go.  When poppy got home and went to bed she would waited in the hall way until he went to sleep to go get us a snack.  I remember all the fun times we had at the camp and the boat rides and going to the sand bar.  Granny always try to make the time we had together happy and fun.   I will always miss her and her smile and silly ways.  I love and miss my Granny and Poppy very much.  Granny could always cook good.  Know she is with my poppy and I know she is happy and not hurting anymore.  😭😭

Nobody would deny that Grandmommy was happiest in the years before Poppy passed and that’s where I choose to remember her.  
      Some of my earliest memories were the backyard fence gap she pulled open so I could squeeze through and run to the Henry Heights Rec playground.  I loved the big red slide and still picture it when I drive by where it once towered.  Later when the city built a wood fence along the backyards, she’d drag a ladder for me to watch the ball games over the fence.  I can still hear those kids calling out to the batter, sounding like rain frogs. Then there were Bell burgers from Taco Bell, when it still looked like a Spanish casa. They were our favorite to share on the way back from afternoons spent at North Beach.  The ride there was a blast too since she had a heavy foot causing me to slide across the vinyl seat of her LTD (no seatbelts back then, weee!)  Once we’d return home, she’d set me up on her concrete porch painted dark green so I could play Barbies and collect rollie-pollies from under the big cedar tree.   She always had ice cream waiting when it was time to watch Batman & I Dream of Jeannie.  
   She always loved teaching me things such as sewing, crochet, embroidery, baking Easter bunny cakes, Christmas oatmeal cookies, chocolate coconut balls, red velvet cake and her infamous “Green” cake that all the grandchildren loved.  Holidays were her favorite and she couldn’t wait for the family to get together.  She had the coolest aluminum Christmas tree with a spot lighted, color wheel that made the tree look magical!  And I’d stare at it forever.  

Part 2 
    I know I speak for the other grandchildren too when I remember the sound of her almost violently digging in her chest freezer to find something to fix in a moments notice, the sound of the kitchen sink water pipe clonking when she’d turn it off, the creepy sound of the hall floor creaking as she came from the back bedroom, her many frogs (family joke) and Poppy fussing at her for being goofy.  She had a contagious laughter over things only she found funny.  And she was probably happiest when we were all packed up and bouncing on the ole red & white pickup truck’s squeaky, spring bench seat as we headed to the camp!
   I remember the smell of the lilies she always planted in her backyard, the big cedar tree that grew at the end of the porch, the wood of her China cabinet, mustard greens & cantaloupe, the yucky city tap water, Listerine in the bathroom, her many hairspray laden wigs, the smell of riverwater that infiltrated the camp, catfish gravy over rice & fried perch and the Dove soap (because it floats) that we’d bathe with in the river.  
    These are the good memories saved in my heart.  She lives forever there and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.  Thanks for always loving us the best you could.  Hug Poppy for us, bye til later and love you Grandmommy.  

My condolences to the family.  I worked with Mrs. Joycelyn  and I thank God that he placed her in my path.
She was so bubbly and found good in everything.  She will be missed,but left such great memories.

To the Reed Family I am sorry for the lost of your  Mother. May the Lord watch over her and give strength to all family members. I will be 🙏 for u all TO GOD BE THE GLORY !

She is survived by one son, Randy Reed (Sandy) of Humble, Tx.; one daughter, Sandra Pousson (Patrick) of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Tina Agee, Tammy Sheffield, Bridget O'Kelley, Chris Reed, Wesley Reed; and seven great grandchildren.


Joycelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Henry McGee and Alcina Berzas McGee; one brother, Rodnis McGee; two sisters, Ellister Manuel and Mercy Fontenot.
