She attended South Beauregard in Longville from pre-K thru 9th, 10th and 11th grade at Barbe High and 12th at LaGrange High. She loved French language and culture. She studied at LSU at Eunice where she met Peirre Donore a well-known French singer who became an inspiration and friend.
Kayla loved openly and embraced life with enthusiastic curiosity that led her to many places an average person would not go. She delighted in her athleticism as an avid sports enthusiast, Alaskan hiker, white water rafter, basketball, and in high school excelled as part of LaGrange's track team. She participated in the debate club, was very artistic, and enjoyed sketching and loved photography.
At 23 years of age she wasted no time on the negative and was a ray of beaming positive energy that very few could ignore or dislike. She was loved by everyone, everywhere she went. Kayla will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her parents, Benjamin A. Sr. and Mary Ann Broughton; brothers, Benjamin Jr. and Matthew Broughton; sisters, Sarah, Jenny and her twin sister, Kristy Broughton; grandmother, Claire M. Regan; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 9a.m. till noon with a Celebration of Life service at 10a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The family requests that memorial donations be made to help with funeral expenses.
