Leila M Stephens

She was born June 12, 1927 in Hayes, Louisiana to Pierre A.B. Sonnier and Maude Landry-Sonnier. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Kate was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who had an infinite love for children, and her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pierre A.B. Sonnier and Maude Sonnier; her loving husband, LeRoy Stephens and by her daughter, Zona Gail Stephens; sisters, Anna Grace LaCombe, Leona Sonnier, Lena Fee; brother, Raymond Sonnier and granddaughter, Stefanie Hollowell.

Left behind to treasure her memories are her children, Wayne Stephens and wife Linda of Watson, LA, Wendell Stephens and wife Kay of Sulphur, LA, Jewell Gansky of Friendswood, TX and Wyman Stephens of Mont Belview, TX; grandchildren, Celeste Stephens, Kacie Stephens, Kandis Smith and husband Chad, Lexi Hagen and husband Jacob, Braden Gansky, Bryce Stephens and Garrison Gansky; great grandchildren, Zyler Guidry, Lindsey Hollowell, Raiden Stephens, Zadyn Smith, Zaley Smith and Cole Hagen; sister, Henrietta Bertrand and husband Roland. Many nieces and nephews, as well as, beloved friends and children she lovingly took care of through the years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 3:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with visitation resuming at 2:00pm.
