

Mr. Rine as Brother Sidney of the Sacred Heart (1932 - 1939) taught in schools conducted by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Thibodeaux, LA. (1934 - 1938), Muskogee, OK., and Vicksburg, MS. He earned his BA in Math-Science from USL, his MEd at LSU and a MA in Math at the University of Texas. He taught in public schools for 12 years at Jennings High School, 2 years as a teacher and counselor at Midland High School in Midland, LA., after which he taught Mathematics at McNeese State University (1966 - 1984) for 18 years, retiring at the age 69. He was a WWll Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loraine Dischler Rine of Lake Charles; son, Van Joseph Rine of Orlando, FL.; daughter, Susan H. Didelot and husband Mark of Lake Charles; brother, Earl Rine and wife Gladys of Alexandria; grandchildren, Scott Rine and wife Heather of Orlando; Heather Rine of Orlando; Melissa Taylor and husband Bruce of Groves, TX., Van Didelot and wife Sandi of Lake Charles; Steven Didelot and wife Andrea of Lake Charles; great grandchildren, Seth and Sam Rine of Orlando, Trevor, Weston, Austin, and Aubrie Didelot of Lake Charles; Gabe Taylor of Groves, TX. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald W. Rine, parents, Leon and Harriet Rine, three sisters, Peggy, Mabel and Elaine, three brothers, Byron, Chuck and Benny
Services for Leon J. Rine will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2012, at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. and resume Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
