

He was born to Abraham and Mary Agatha (Babineaux) Montgomery on December 23, 1947. He was born in Duson, Louisiana and resided in Mossville, Louisiana for most of his adult life until 2003. He then moved to Moss Bluff, Louisiana, where he resided until his death.
Leward was the most loving, caring, selfless person who would do just about anything for anybody. He was always smiling and made people feel welcome. He was a compassionate neighbor and revered friend to many. To a host of many nieces and nephews he was known as “Unc”. He was a master at cooking and known for his delicious grilled meats and beans and rice with sausage and tasso. He loved working in his yard and playing solitaire on his computer. He retired from WR Grace after his employment of over 20+ years as a plant operator.
He is survived by his wife, Celine Montgomery; daughters, Candice Montgomery Pankey and Camille Humphrey; granddaughter, Cailyn Pankey; two sisters, Dorothy Armelin and Shirley Covington of Los Angeles, CA; brothers, Vallery Montgomery and Wesley Montgomery of Lake Charles, LA and Walter and Eugene Montgomery of Los Angeles, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Mary Agatha Montgomery; brothers, Abraham Jr., Oran, Leseley, Clifton, Jack, Marshall and Jerry Montgomery, sisters Diane Prince and Theresa Andrus and son, Channing Montgomery.
He will be missed greatly by all of his relative and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles from 10a.m. to 1p.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
