

He served honorably in the 82nd Airborne Division. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, traveling, camping, loved watching the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints, and absolutely loved Bill O’Reilly. He loved spending time with his family and loved and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lionel is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Leta Duplechain, two sons, Lionel “L.J.” Duplechain, Jr. and wife Alicia of Mandeville, LA., Felix Duplechain and wife Bethany of Loreauville, LA., four daughters, Lisa Verret and husband Clayton of St. Martinville, LA., Ann Broussard and husband Danny of New Iberia, LA., Mary Marceaux of Dayton, TX., and Jennifer Naomi and husband Ronald of Youngsville, LA, and a sister, Judy Rutherford of Grand Lake. He leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Morgan Marceaux, parents, Abel and Alida Duplechain, 3 brothers, Colton, Daniel, Felix, and 2 sisters, Mildred Wyatt and Mercedes Todd.
Services will be held at 11:00am at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church on Monday, August 29, 2016. Visitation will be that morning from 9:00am until the procession to the church.
