Lois Elaine Primeaux, a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, LA, passed away early Saturday morning, June 8, 2024, at the age of 88, while in hospice care. Born to Joseph Russell Boutte and Anna Lois Gaudet Boutte, Lois was a beloved wife, mother, and sister. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Maxie Primeaux, Jr., her sister, Annabelle Boutte Bergeron, and her parents.
Lois is survived by her son, Gary Primeaux, and his wife, Dorothy LeBlanc Primeaux; her brother-in-law, Dennis Primeaux, and his wife, Yvonne; as well as a niece and several nephews.
In her teenage years, Lois was an avid roller skater and cherished the memories made on the rink as a member of the Pelican Skating Club and served as its secretary. Lois also attended LaGrange High School, where she was an active and vibrant student. In her junior year, she competed in the school's beauty contest, and the finalists were selected by none other than actor Jimmy Stewart. Pictures were featured in the 1953 issue of Resumé, the school's yearbook. These fond memories remained with her throughout her life.
As a military wife, Lois bravely followed her husband, Maxie, to various bases across the country, including Grand Forks, ND, Topeka, KS, and Riverside, CA. After his retirement from the military, they returned to their beloved hometown of Lake Charles.
In her later years, Lois resided at Sage Oak of Lake Charles, an assisted living facility. She enjoyed various hobbies, crafts, gardening, cooking, working on jigsaw puzzles, and playing bingo and dominoes with her friends,
Lois will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. She was a special lady. To know her, was to love her.
The family wishes to welcome relatives and friends to Hixson's Funeral Home on Ryan Street in Lake Charles, on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park.
