

Marguerite C. Hebert-Herford, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2011 at St. Frances Nursing and Rehab. Center in Oberlin, LA. She was born on August 14, 1919. She had lived in Morgan City, Westlake, Lake Charles and Woodlawn, Louisiana. She will be remembered for her joy of life, giving nature, love of people and appreciation for beauty in all forms.
Her work experience included employment at Muller's, Sears, Lake Charles Lumber Company and Moss Regional Hospital. Throughout her lifetime she was active in serving the Lord in Baptist churches. She was active in the work of Carey Baptist Association. She had been active in Twelfth Street Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist where she helped establish the Heritage Room, Woodlawn Baptist Church where she was a charter member and at the time of her death she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westlake.
Marguerite was preceded in death by husbands, Elwin C. “Jack” Hebert of Woodlawn and
Lake Charles and James R. Herford of Westlake; her parents, Bailey and Lillian Coleman; sisters, Camille McGinn, Mary Jane Buford; brothers, Arenz, Leroy, and Otey Coleman and stepson Jim "Hawk" Herford.
She is survived by her daughter, Claribel Jones and husband Johnny of Woodlawn, and stepson, Guy Herford of DeQuincy; Grandchildren, Denise Henkel and husband, Mark, Jim Jones and wife, Julie, John David Jones and wife, Cheri, Scott Herford and Steven Herford; Great-grandchildren, Nick, Brant, and Amy Jones, Zack and Emily Henkel, Cory Armer; nieces Goldie Dafferes, Hilda Webb, Mary Weaver, Susan Johnson, DeAnne Sutton and nephews, L.J. Buford, Rick Coleman and Ron Coleman.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Vernon Chevallier will officiate. Burial will be in Pinehill Cemetery in Iowa, LA. Visitation will be Saturday 3-8 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. til the time of service.
The family expresses gratitude to the wonderful staff and aides of St. Frances for their loving, and tender care of Marguerite. Thanks also to the Brighton Bridge Hospice group for their loving care during her last days, as well as to Mrs. Janice Temple for her faithfulness.
