

Mary Katherine “Kathy” Basco, age 62, of Creole, Louisiana passed away on Saturday October 3, 2015. She was born on July 14, 1953 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Whitney and Lorine Sturlese Baccigalopi. Kathy was a parishioner of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies Alter Society, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Louisiana Farm Bureau and American Legion Post 364. She enjoyed life and loved sewing, needlepoint, puzzles, camping, traveling, gardening and was well known for her German chocolate cake, but especially loved spending time with her family.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Francis Basco, her mother Lorine Sturlese Baccigalopi, her children, Angela Guidry, Nickie (Tim) Blakley, Sheila (C.A.) Mhire, Mary Carroll and George (Annette) Basco, her grandchildren, Dalton Guidry, Ryan, Ethan, and Logan Blakley, Anthony and Sarah Basco, Katie and Hannah Mhire, and Sydney and Dylan Carroll, her great grandchild, Layton Bowring, her brothers, Adam (Cathy) Baccigalopi, Robert (Frances) Baccigalopi and J.C. (Nancy) Baccigalopi, her sisters, Dorothy (Henri) Falkenberg, Elougia (Billy) Myers, Joyce Baccigalopi and Tina Baccigalopi, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Whitney Baccigalopi, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sturlese and Mr. and Mrs. Clopha Baccigalopi
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 10:00am – 9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles with a rosary service at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 9:00am till time of Mass at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church hall in Grand Chenier. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Kathy’s life will immediately follow at 11:00am at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church Sanctuary. Father Richard Uche will officiate. Interment will follow at Sweet Lake Cemetery in Grand Lake.
