Nola was the matriarch of her family but her love she had for them was beyond measure. She may have been little in height but the devotion to her family and friends put her 20’ tall. She was full of life and always had a smile on her face.
She loved her Cajun heritage and enjoyed spending her weekends and any chance she had dancing and listening to Cajun music. At times, she could be found traveling anywhere from Louisiana to Texas with her dear friend, Jane Newman supporting Cajun musicians.
Her family always knew they could call on her for anything from getting advice or how to cook one of her favorite meals. But they all will miss the yearly phone calls for each of their birthdays when she would call and sing happy birthday in French.
Although she will be missed so very much, she is reunited with the love of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mack Manuel. Her son, Billy Manuel, son-in-law, Greg Mudd, granddaughter, Daniella Racca. Her parents, Arthur & Azalea Myers. Three brothers, Bobby, Hollis, & Bill and four sisters, Bertha, Joyce, Doris & Ruby.
She is survived by her children. Elaine LaVergne (Mike), Renee Moore (Richard), Lori Lowe (John), Lynn Manuel and Doris Mudd. Daughter-in-Law, Barbara Manuel. Her brother, Arthur Myers Jr.
23 grandchildren , 37 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. until the procession leaves for the church at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kylor Wilber, Mark LaVergne, Matthew LaVergne, Mack LaVergne, T-Bleu LeBleu, Zeb LeBleu, Courtney Lowe, Jacob Boudoin and Ty Manuel. Michael LaVergne and Jade Cargile will be escorts.
