

He was born in Creole and lived there all his life. He was a retired Clerk of Court for Cameron Parish and was a member of the Louisiana Clerk Association. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. 1st Class and retired after 20 years in the Army Reserves. He raised cattle and was a member of the Cameron and Louisiana Cattlemen's Association as well as the Louisiana Farm Bureau. He was a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion, was a lifetime member of the Woodmen of the World, was a member of the Mended Hearts Association of the Lake Charles Chapter, was a hospital visitor, member of the American Cancer Society, member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Creole where he was a lecturer and Eucharistic minister, He was one of the founding board members of the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival and was crowned King Fur XXXVIII. He was a 4th Degree Msgr. Cramers of the Knights of Columbus, past member of the Cameron Lions Club, past assistant Scout Master of Troop 202, past board member of Cameron Council on Aging and past Cameron Parish Citizen of the Year. He was a member of the CODIFIL, was a supporter of the Cameron Parish 4-H Club, Lady Tarpons Softball, and South Cameron High School Football, serving as a cameraman for the Tarpon Football Team for many years. Roland was an avid McNeese Football fan. He enjoyed classic boxing on ESPN, puzzles, cracking pecans, playing his harmonica, dancing at weddings and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. At Christmas time, he played the greatest Santa Claus. He loved Creole and was hoping to be able to move back home.
He is survived by his sons, Vernon Ulysse Primeaux of Creole, Stanley A. Primeaux and wife, Beckie of Creole, Patrick Oran Primeaux and wife, Cynthia "Cyndi" of Grand Lake; daughters, Joelle Martel of Lake Charles, C. Anne King and friend Jimmy Pecor of Grand Lake, Rosalie Nunez and husband Pat of Kinder, Margaret Wolfe and husband, Gregory of Creole; sister, Mable Primeaux Thibodeaux of Lake Charles; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lydia Mae Sevin Primeaux; father, Ulysse Primeaux; mother, Rosa Marie Theriot Boudoin and step father, Adias "Chop" Boudoin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Roland's sitters, Carolyn Wigley, Benita Whetstone, Linda Armentero and the late, Marie Nunez, as well as his special neighbor, Ricky Miller.
His funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole. Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Creole. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. til time of service on Friday.
