

Ruby Elizabeth Brown, 91, a native of New Iberia and resident of Lake Charles was entrusted to God’s loving care on Monday, May 4, 2015. “I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” Psalm 55:6
Ruby owned and managed Brown’s Moving and Storage Company and co-owner of B & M Trucking Company. During World War II, she was a welder for Avondale Ship Yard. She was a member of the Boulevard Church of Christ for many years. Ruby enjoyed sewing, card games, cooking and most of all working in her yard.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Paulette Boudreaux and husband, Otis, Lake Charles; son, Bill Brown and wife Connie, Moss Bluff; brother, William DeRouen, Sulphur; and sister, Joyce Landry, Lake Charles. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Paul William Brown, parents; Gilbert DeRouen, and Sylvia Comeaux DeRouen, brothers; Kelly, Milton, J.P., Gordon, and Francis DeRouen, sisters; Hannie Delcambre and Bess Ammons, great-grandchildren; Ashley Renee and Michael Shad Cook.
Visitation will commence at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until Christian service time at 11:00 a.m. Rev. E.T. Browning will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Brookdale Senior Living and Harbor Hospice.
