She is preceded in death by her parents, Fern Ivy Dowden Sr., Barbara Bourg Dowden, her sister’s Patricia Dowden Lund and Geraldine Dowden Spell, her sister-in-law and best friend Gloria Thompson, Bridges, and her beloved son Jeffery “Bubba” Lane Bridges.
Lynn is survived by her siblings: Fern “Sandy” Dowden Jr., Thomas Dowden (Sandra), Dean Dowden Fragale.
Lynn was born in Westlake, Louisiana, where she attended Westlake High School. It was there that she met her soulmate, Archie Harold Bridges.
Lynn and Harold married March 14, 1964 and began their family with their one and only son Jeff. They added to their family shortly after with their daughters: Dana Katherine Carter, Rhonda Dale Pierce (Kirk), Sonya Renee Allen (Jason Fusilier), and Rebecca Lynn Veillon (Shannon).
Lynn and Harold were married for 61 years and anyone who knew Lynn and Harold knew they had their own special language and that there were no two better people made for each other. Lynn passed her strength and determination to all of her children.
Lynn, with boundless energy, was a lifelong worker. She retired from Kroger and Mr. Bill’s Seafood and had a passion for cake decorating. Lynn left a lasting impression on anyone she met, you knew you were loved by her and knew where you stood with her.
Lynn’s greatest love was her family. Aside from her five children, she was a grandmother to 20 grandchildren. She was a great grandmother to 26 great grandchildren. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Lynn was greatly loved by all and will be sorely missed.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Sunday, January 5, 2025 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Her brother-in-law Fred Bridges will officiate at the services.
