John Edward Kelley III

John Kelley, age 74, of Lake Odessa, Michigan passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 unexpectedly at his home. John was born on December 21, 1949 to John and Dyphine (Helms) Kelley in Charlotte, NC. John proudly served our country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. On January 2, 1970 he married Dorothy Fennema and together they raised two children and enjoyed 55 years of marriage and adventures. John with his wife loved being outside and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and walking on the Jordan Lake Trail. When the grandchildren came they became his absolute world. He lived for being with them and teaching them the love of the outdoors.

His devotion to his church, family and faith carried him through life.

John is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, children; Bonnie (Matt) Dougherty and John (Heidi) Kelley, grandchildren Cody (Brittany) Dougherty, Aubrey Connors, Bret (Felicia) Dougherty, Bailey (Peter) Leto, great-grandchildren Olivia, Issac, Lilah and Hudson, Uncle Bill (Marguerite) Kelley, along with many nieces, nephews and too many friends and co-workers to name.

A visitation will be held on February 15, 2024 from 10am until 11am. A private graveside will take place in Woodland Memorial Park, with the family receiving friends at a Lakewood Church at a luncheon at 1pm that afternoon.

In lieu of flowers or donations, take your grandchildren fishing or for a walk.
