Maebelle Claire Brooks

Maebelle Claire Brooks, age 89, of Clarksville, Michigan passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Maebelle was born to Thomas and Ethel Mae (McGowen) Stafford on February 11, 1933 on Sugar Island, MI. Maebelle spent her younger days growing up in Sugar Island and Sault ste Marie then in the early 1940's her parents made the move to Hart, MI. She traveled to the lower peninsula in the back of her uncles truck with her brothers on a ferry boat, being that the bridge hadn't been built. Maebelle was known as a very special person, putting her all into everything she did. Her cinnamon rolls were known as the best around as well as her cookies, pies and other great sweets.She enjoyed canning many vegetables and fruits, the family especially loved her dill pickles. After retirement she enjoyed sewing and working in her flower gardens.

Maebelle was active with Mary Martha's at her church as well as the local Lions Club. She also hosted the Five Day Clubs where she supplied cookies and Kool Aide to the children.

She will be dearly missed by her children Cathy (Javier ) Martinez, Judy (Mark) Rosenberger, Susan Smith and David (Sylvia) Brooks, grandchildren; Matthew, Luke, Jason, Dana, Charlie, Christina, Brooke, Jamie, Joshua and Jalyn, 27 great grandchildren, siblings Samuel Stafford, Raymond Stafford, Evelyn Blondeau, Irene Thiele, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by; her parents, husband Arlen and grandson Jonathan Rosenberger, siblings Charles Stafford, Pauline Moll, Thomas Stafford, Clarence Stafford and Arlene Shepard.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 10am until 11am at Calvary Grace Brethren, 13700 84th St SE, Alto, MI 49302. Funeral services will begin at 11am at the church. Maebelle will be laid to rest in Clarksville Cemetery next to Arlen immediately following the service.
