Mr. Roger Eugene Catt Sr, a brave, devoted, and hard-working man, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 87 after battling Vascular Dementia. He was born on March 1, 1938, and grew up in Lake Odessa, MI, where he graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1956.
Roger had a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, enlisting in 1956 alongside his best friends and brother Larry. He retired in 1980 as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, Chief Petty Officer. After his service, he continued his hard-working legacy at John Deere in the Lake Odessa and Portland area, while tending to his hobby farm.
On August 14, 1978, Roger married Diane Harvey in Texas. Together, they spent 48 cherished years as each other's best friend and biggest fans. Roger leaves behind his beloved wife Diane; his children Roger (Sharon) Catt Jr, Kim (Jim) Leadbetter, Michael Catt, and Johanna (Kyle) Vosburg; and his grandchildren Sadie (Andrew) Wiltshire, Keith Catt, Christine Leadbetter, Catherine Leadbetter, James Leadbetter III, Brody Vosburg, Carson Vosburg, and Benson Vosburg. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Josie Wiltshire, Clint Wiltshire, and Milo Wiltshire, and his brother John (Terri) Catt. He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Margaret (Shumway) Catt and his brother Larry Catt.
Roger was a humble man with a quick wit, always downplaying his accomplishments. After retiring from the Navy, he made a list of goals he wanted to achieve and accomplished all but one, 50 years of marriage with Diane.
Visitation will be held on December 12th, 2025 from 12pm until 2pm at Koops Funeral Chapel, with graveside service to follow at Lakeside Cemetery with full Military Honors.
In memory of Roger, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America to aid in research. Roger will be remembered as a loyal, compassionate, and cherished individual who touched the lives of many.
