

Timothy M. Shears, 58, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1953 in Grand Rapids, the son of Robert and Thelma (Slater) Shears. Tim graduated from Kentwood High School and was married to Pamela Lyn Benson on October 6, 1990. Tim received his pilot's license at age 16. He was a former Boy Scout Leader of Hastings Boy Scout Troop #175 and had served on the Board of Directors of Swifty's Place in Lake Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Janet Murphy; father-in-law, Roy Benson; sister-in-law, Suzanne DeGier; "Dad", Kent Esbaugh. Surviving is his wife, Pamela Lyn Shears; sons, Ian Shears and Robert Shears; brother, Tom (Sallie) Shears; sister, Kathy (Mike) Murphy; mother-in-law, Marjorie Benson; brothers and sisters in-law, Marian (Bob) Durkee, Kathy (Bob) Othmer, Ken (Carole) Benson, Bruce (Hope) Benson, Mike (Lou) Rice, Dave (Patti) Benson, Judy (Mike) Rodriguez, Paul (Jessica) Benson; special friend, Rick Wiersum; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Funeral services for Tim will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Central United Methodist Church, 912 Fourth Avenue, Lake Odessa. Interment Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa. Memorial contributions in Tim's name may be directed to Mackenzies Animal Sanctuary, 8935 Thompson Road, Lake Odessa, MI 48849.
